Prisoner Mutabar Tadjibayeva from Ferghana fears for her daughter

Imprisoned in a Tashkent jail and awaiting contemplation of her appeal, “Fiery Hearts Club” leader Mutabar Tadjibayeva addressed international organizations and asked them to protect her daughter Makhliyo from the Uzbek prosecutor’s office.

“I fear for my family. My relatives were put under pressure because of me. These days, it is the life of my only daughter Makhliyo that is at risk,” Tadjibayeva wrote. She is afraid that the authorities may orchestrate her pregnant daughter’s demise at the maternity hospital.

Tadjibayeva wouldn’t put it beyond the prosecutor’s office. She believes that her daughter may come to harm.

“When I was jailed and my husband Murodjon Akramov was fired, my daughter’s husband lost his job too. He was compelled to leave his pregnant wife here and go abroad to earn some living. The daughter is due in May or June, and she is all alone now,” Tadjibayeva wrote.

Tadjibayeva from Ferghana was arrested in the town of Margilan on December 8, 2005, on the eve of departure for an international conference in Ireland. Charged under 13 articles of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, she was sentenced to eight years imprisonment.
