Ministers’ meeting must include a discussion of a situation with human rights in Uzbekistan

It is expected that on October 16 Abdulaziz Kamilov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, visits Paris to meet with his French counterpart Mr. Laurent Fabius. The open media has not yet announced the agenda of the minister’s meeting.

Given that, the International human rights organization “Fiery Hearts Club” calls upon the government of France to raise the issue with human rights in Uzbekistan during the upcoming talks. We view France as one of the world’s leading democracies, one of the world’s cradles of ideas and traditions of human rights and democracy.

International human rights organizations are concerned about the situation of Farhodkhon Mukhtorov

On Monday, October 1, International human rights organization “Fiery Hearts Club”, the Committee to release the prisoners of conscience in Uzbekistan, the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, the International Federation for Human Rights and the World Organization Against Torture issued a joint press-release in which they condemned the recent persecution of human rights activist Farhodkhon Mukhtorov in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The press release was also signed by Tolib Yakubov, honorary president of the International Human Rights Society of Uzbekistan.

Human rights activist and her grandmother was detained by police for several hours

On October 13, law enforcement authorities in Karshi detained the human rights activist Gulshan Karayeva and her 100-year-old grandmother, and kept them for several hours in police department.

Gulshan Karayeva herself told about their detention to Mutabar Tadjibayeva, head of the international human rights organization “Fiery Hearts Club”, during the phone conversation.

Law enforcement authorities in Karshi city detained human rights activist Gulshan Karayeva and her 100-year-old grandmother on October 13, 2012.

Relatives of the detained human rights activist contacted Mutabar Tajibaeva, head of “Fiery Hearts Club”, via telephone and told about the incident that happened at about 9:00 am.
