The Uzbek authorities have not transferred activist Bobomurod Razzokov from prison to colony again

According to the Criminal Executive Code and the Uzbek Senate’s“Amnesty” Decree, Bobomurod Razzokov, the chairman of the Bukhara regional branch of ‘Ezgulik’Uzbek Human Rights Society,an inmate of Prison 64/3 in Tavaksai district of Tashkent province, should have been transferred from prison to colony on 12 July, 2014.

The human rights activist, who has served a quarter of his punishmentterm, had had the fully right to it; moreover, “Amnesty” Decree does not stipulate anything to prevent his transfer to colony.

Previously “Ezgulik” reported that Bobomurod Razzokov’s case is politically motivated and he wasimprisoned only because he exposed crimes of corruption so common in Bukhara, especially criminal acts of representatives from the Anti-terror unit of the Bukhara Province Interior Department. On 2 March, he was quite illegally put into a single confinement cell.

It was also found out that the punishment term for “violations” fabricated against the human rights defender in the Tavaksai prison would expire within six months, so anyway Bobomurod Razzokov should have been transferred to colony on 6 August, 2014.

Apparently, the Uzbek government is not going to releaseUzbek human rights defendersfrom prisons. Despite demands of the international community, international organizations and agencies, the fate of the human rights defender, who was imprisoned based on fabricated charges, remains unknown. Razzokov’s health is poor;he is old and suffers gastrointestinal diseases.

On 24 September, 2013, human rights activist Bobomurod Razzokov was found guilty by the Bukhara province court according to article 135 (Human Trafficking) of the Uzbekistan Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment. On 19, 2013, he was transferred to the Tavaksai prison in Tashkent province.
