Swiss authorities did not find elements of crime in the actions of Mutabar Tadjibayeva, who visited Karimova’s house
Prosecutor’s Office of Switzerland decided that there is no reasons for opening a criminal case against Mutabar Tadjibayeva, head of the International Human Rights Organization “Fiery Hearts Club”, and her colleagues on the basis of the complaint of Denis Makarov, officer at the mission of Uzbekistan to the UN Geneva office.
This is stated in the notification of the law enforcement agencies of Switzerland to Denis Makarov, representative of Uzbek diplomatic mission, sent on April 9.
On March 2, Uzbek human rights Mutabar Tadjibayeva, Danish journalist Michael Andersen, a former ambassador to Uzbekistan Craig Murray, former representative of the “Human Rights Watch” Igor Vorontsov, a Swiss journalist Andre Lorsch visited the house of Gulnara Karimova, eldest daughter of Uzbek President Islam Karimov, located on the most expensive and fashionable district of Geneva – Cologny.
Earlier Tadjibayeva told to “Jarayon” that neither she, nor her colleagues commit any illegal actions when visiting Karimova’s house. They talked with a man who came out from the building, which, according to the information available in the Internet, belongs to Karimova. They dropped their business cards in the mailbox, and after left the place.
After this incident, the Geneva police received a written complaint from Denis Makarov, attaché in the mission of Uzbekistan to the United Nations Office in Geneva. In his statement, Makarov accused Mutabar Tadjibayeva and several other persons in attempting to illegally enter the house, encroaching on personal space and property of persons with diplomatic status.
Law enforcement officials in Geneva, who investigated the incident, held conversations with both Denis Makarov and Mutabar Tadjibayeva.
After hearing the testimonies of both sides, the Swiss police came to the conclusion that there were no elements of crime in this incident, and the police notified the parties of its decision.
Prosecutor’s conclusion emphasizes that there is no evidence that the visitors’ “tried to illegally enter the house, encroach on personal space and property of persons with diplomatic status”, therefore, they decided that the complaint of Denis Makarov was baseless.
Mutabar Tadjibayeva, heaving read the decision of the prosecutor, says she wants to take copies of the documents of the case.
– On March 12, during a conversation in Geneva police, they told me that I could use my right to make copies of all documents on the case. I want to take this opportunity and make copies of all documents. We will study them and decided how we should proceed in the case, – says Mutabar Tadjibayeva, head of the International Human Rights Organization “Fiery Hearts Club”.
Notification sent by the Prosecutor’s Office in Geneva states that the complainant can appeal the decision within 10 days.
