“We congratulate you for your courage and determination, please accept my best wishes,” – Francois Walter, the chairman of the ACAT Foundation, wrote in the letter addressed to the human rights activist.
The award ceremony will be held on 15 November 2014 within the framework of the event in the Paris Catholic Institute. The prize includes a cash award.
The award named Engel-Tertre is given to human rights defenders. ACAT gives this award for the first time, so human rights activist Tadjibayeva is its first winner.
The Engel-Tertre award was named in honor of two ladies – Hélène Engel and Edith du Tertre, who founded ACAT human rights organization in 1974. It is worth mentioning that this year ACAT celebrates its 40thanniversary.
Previously, ACAT included Mutabar Tadjibayeva in the list of 40 people, who actively struggle against torture worldwide.
“Jarayon” sincerely congratulates Mutabar Tadjibayeva with such a prestigious award and wish her much success in her work!
