Mutabar Tadjibayeva writes «last open letter to president»

On 7 December, famous human rights activist Mutabar Tadjibayeva, which has been in detention for two months, wrote her fourth and “last open letter” to President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

“Mr. President! I no longer believe you. To prove this, I announce an ongoing hunger strike. The Civil Society movement, founded by me, can live without me!” – this is how Tadjibayeva’s letter starts.

Prominent human rights activist Mutabar Tadjibayeva from the Ferghana Valley went on a hunger-strike in jail on December 7, her lawyer Dilafruz Nurmatova told Arena (http://www.freeuz.org).

Imprisoned two months ago, Tadjibayeva wrote her fourth and “last open letter” to President Islam Karimov that same day.

“Mr. President! I no longer trust you and call a hunger-strike by way of proof. Movement Civil Society I’ve founded can do without me,” the human rights activist wrote.

Prominent human rights activist Mutabar Tadjibayeva arrested in Tashkent

Mutabar Tadjibayeva is leader of the “Fiery Hearts Club” in the city of Ferghana and one of the organizers of popular movement Civil Society. The authorities harass the human rights activist for her political convictions.

On the night on October 8 Tadjibayeva was booked on a flight to Dublin where an international conference for defense of human rights activists was planned.

Human rights activist Mutabar Tadjibayeva goes on a hunger strike

Mutabar Tadjibayeva, leader of the Fiery Hearts Club that promotes human rights in the city of Ferghana, an organizer of the movement Civil Society, went on a hunger strike as a protest against illegal arrest.

Tadjibayeva was arrested on the eve of departure for an international conference of human rights activists in Ireland. She had told journalists on October 7 that she was leaving for Tashkent that very evening.

Family history of the candidate for nomination: her father Tadjibayev Ibrokhimjon was born in 1916 in the town of Margilan, in 1941 he participated in the Great Patriotic Wat. During the war he was wounded on the territory of Ukraine. Where he got married with Uljaeva Kandolatkhon, who was born in 1926, her parents were from Yangikurgon village, Buvaydinskiy district of Ferghana Region, they were deported from the country as “people’s enemies”. Their elder son, Ibrokhimov Sobirjon was born there in 1945. After the war was finished the newly married couple came back to Margilan. They had 10 children. The candidate for nomination is the 7th child in the family. She is distinguished for her intolerance to injustice, and thirst for struggling for truth. She has a daughter (Pulatova Makhliyo Makhmudovna), who was born in 1984.
